The HORECA trade fair in Athens is an annual, prestigious international event dedicated to the latest trends and innovative solutions in procurement and equipment for hotels and food-service venues. Entry is available only to business representatives, which gives the event a strictly B2B character.

The fair takes place at Greece’s largest exhibition center – Metropolitan Expo (gr. Εκθεσιακό Κέντρο Metropolitan Expo), located near Athens Airport. Direct access is possible by taxi or car. You can also take the metro, an express bus line X, or the suburban railway, and then use the organizers’ free shuttle bus from the airport. Below you’ll find details for each option.
From central Athens, the fastest route is via the Attiki Odos motorway toward the airport. The exhibition center is about 2 km from the airport. It’s easy to find—there are plenty of signs along the way directing you to the fair. Metropolitan Expo offers 5,500 free parking spaces.
A convenient, though more expensive, option is to travel by taxi, UBER, or FREENOW. The average fare from Syntagma Square (gr. Πλατεία Συντάγματος) to Metropolitan Expo is around 40 EUR, but the price may vary depending on the time of day and traffic conditions.
Travel from central Athens (e.g., Syntagma Square) is possible via Metro Line 3 (the Blue Line) toward the airport. The route includes 16 stops and takes about 60 minutes. A ticket costs 9 EUR. After arriving at the airport, transfer to the organizers’ free shuttle bus (details below).
To reach the airport from different districts of Athens, you can use the express buses: X92 (Kifisia), X93 (KTEL Kifisou & Liosion), X96 (Piraeus), X97 (Dafni). From Syntagma Square, you can take line X-95. After reaching the airport, transfer to the organizers’ free shuttle bus (details below).
If you choose to travel to the airport by metro or bus, you can use the organizers’ free shuttle bus to the exhibition center. The shuttle stop is located at Exit 2 on the Arrivals level.
The closest districts near Metropolitan Expo are Artemida, Spata and Rafina, which offer both hotels and rooms for rent. Unfortunately, there is no direct public transport connection to the expo grounds. Using Uber or a taxi, the ride usually costs around 20 EUR (depending on the district), and travel time is about 10–15 minutes. From central Athens, costs and travel time will vary depending on the transport option you choose.
