Poland is facing a severe cold wave, causing extreme winter conditions across much of the country. According to meteorological forecasts, temperatures are dropping sharply and locally reaching –23°C (–9°F), affecting travel and citizens’ daily life.
Prolonged Bad Weather
The harsh weather has lasted for more than two weeks. Many regions are experiencing continuous snowfalls, frost, and icy roads, while the worst conditions are mainly in the eastern and northeastern parts of the country, where cold remains intense even during the day.
During night and early morning hours, temperatures drop sharply. In several cities, it ranges between –15°C and –20°C (5°F to –4°F), while locally even lower readings are recorded. In northern Poland, dense fog reduces visibility to less than 200 meters (656 ft).
New Weather Front
Additionally, a new weather front is expected from the west, which will bring:
• New snowfalls and locally freezing rain.
• Snow accumulation increase by 5 to 10 cm (2–4 in), mainly in western and southern Poland.

Authorities are urging citizens to be extremely careful when traveling, as frost, icy roads, and low visibility continue to create dangerous conditions. The cold wave is expected to persist over the next few days.
